We all remember the story of Jonah. It stands out among the Bible stories from childhood. It's so action-packed, I always read it straight through.
The true tale of a rebel prophet who tries to run from the Lord has always been a favorite story of mine. Jonah goes to sleep while the frantic crew tries to figure out how they wound up in a freak storm.
Eventually -they toss him overboard, ( I always picture him going down with his luggage ).
Currently I'm reworking the whale in a revision of the painting seen here (watercolor and acrylic on 140 lb watercolor paper.)
But after doing some sketching I've concluded that the entire composition needs to be in landscape format.
Oh well, trial and error were always two of my best instructors.
