I love rhyme.
Yes, I realize it's a hard sell.
Of the few stories I've written so far,
only one of them rhymes. (I guess that's a "good" thing.) But just because rhyming books are a no-no, doesn't mean I can't weave bits of rhyme into a manuscript.
I love word play, and collect interesting words.
Then I sprinkle them through my stories.
Of course there are lots of poetic tools available, such as alliteration,
assonance, onomatopoeia, personification, etc.
An interesting combination of these will spruce up any text.
And rhyme-masters abound on the web.
Renee La Tuilippe's No Water River comes to mind.
I also highly recommend anything by Dandi Daley Mackall
and the fabulous Shutta Crum.
So, to rhyme or not to rhyme?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject:)
